Egypt's players Shikabala and Mohamed Zidan
Egypt and Bani Yas striker Mohamed Zidan has refused to be compared with Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ who also plays in the UAE for Al-Wasl, and insisted that they are not like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Arab football fans have been monitoring the performance of the Egyptian duo since they joined the UAE league this summer. His comments come in the context of the pair being compared with Barcelona's Messi and Real Madrid's Ronaldo.
"I am keeping touch with Shikabala. Sure, I hope he achieves something here as the success of both of us will open the door for more Egyptian players to play in the UAE," Zidan was quoted as saying by the Emirati newspaper Emaratalyoum on Wednesday.
"Comparing us is useless as we are not Messi and Ronaldo," the 30-year-old added.
Shikabala has been a revelation since joining Al-Wasl on a season-long loan from Egyptian giants Zamalek, scoring three goals and creating several others.
Zidan, who is producing some fine displays after recovering recently from a hamstring injury, has scored two goals in as many league appearances with Bani Yas.
