Egypt fell one position to 41 in December's FIFA world football rankings, which were announced on Wednesday.
The winners of seven African Cup of Nations trophies remained sixth in Africa and second in the Arab world.
Spain stayed top of the world rankings while Germany remained second. Argentina kept third place, while Italy snatched fourth place from Portugal.
Ivory Coast are still the top African side at 15, Algeria are still second at 19, and Mali are third at 25.
Under the guidance of American manager Bob Bradley, Egypt are preparing for their World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in March.
