Harras El-Hodoud climbed to third place in the Egyptian League (Group A) following a 3-1 home win over Ghazl El-Mahalla in the league's ninth match-day on Tuesday.
Two minute before the break, Sherif Ashraf converted a penalty to open the scoring for the hosts.
International striker Ahmed Hassan Mekki scored twice – in the 84th and 90th minutes – to complete the rout for the military team.
But the lively striker missed a precious chance for a hat-trick after failing to convert a penalty in the 87th minute.
Mekki's double helped him top the Egyptian League scorers' list with five goals.
El-Hodoud are now third in Group A with 14 points, only one point behind leaders ENPPI.
Earlier in the day, Bani Suef Telephones claimed a 1-0 win over Wadi Degla to advance to fifth place in Group A with 11 points.
