Ismaily's winning campaign in the Arab Cup came to a dramatic close Tuesday when Egypt's representative in the regional tournament lost 4-3 on penalties to Algerian outfit USMA in the second leg of the competition's semi-finals.

The Derviches, who clinched a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Algeria two weeks ago, were held to a similar draw by the visitors in the second leg.

International midfielder Ahmed Khayri and defender Ahmed Abdel Aziz wasted two penalties for the Egyptian team, which ended up leading to Ismaily's elimination from the tournament.

Following the game, Ismaily fans ripped up stadium seats as Egyptian security forces responded with teargas.

The ensuing melee resulted in several injuries, including Ismaily's third goalkeeper Mahmoud Shoukri.
