Tunisia's Esperance reach CAF Champions League last 16, Sudan's El Merriekh out

Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Kano Pillars of Nigeria secure places in 16th round of CAF Champions League Saturday

Tunisia giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis booked their place in the last 16 of the CAF Champions League Saturday after beating Primeiro de Agosto of Angola 1-0.

The first leg result between the two sides also ended in a 1-0 win for the Tunisian side, who went through on a 2-0 aggregate victory.

With Esperance capitalising on the home advantage, striker Chemmam scored the winner only two minutes before the final whilste.

Kano Pillars of Nigeria also reached the last-16 after battering Congolese side AC Leopards de Dolisie 4-1 on aggregate. Saturday's second leg finished in a goalless draw.

Stade Malien de Bamako of Mali defeated Senegalese side Casa Sports Zinguinchor 2-0 on Saturday, to secure a 4-1 aggregate win.

Orlando Pirates of South Africa were the last team to book a berth in the last 16 of the CAF Champions League on Saturday after beating Zambian side Zanaco 3-1 on aggregate.

Sudanese side El Merreikh exited the competition after losing to Recreativo de Libolo of Angola 4-2 on aggregate.
