Lorient's Burkinabe striker Alain Traore will miss the rest of the current season due to a hamstring injury, the French side announced Thursday.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury during a training session this week and will not be available for the rest of the season.

"The season has ended for Traore," Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff told French magazine France Football on Thursday.

The international forward shone in this year's African Nations Cup, producing a string of impressive performances with Burkina Faso in the first round, during which he scored three goals.

He missed the final phase, however, after tearing a hamstring during the last match of the first round.

Burkina Faso surprised the continent by reaching the final round of the continental tournament before losing the title in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of champions Nigeria.
