English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating signing Egypt's promising forward Mohamed Salah in the summer, the Daily Mail said on Friday.

The 20-year-old helped Swiss side Basel knock Tottenham out of the Europa League quarter-finals after putting in some superb displays.

He impressed in the first leg with his roving runs and catchy feints before finding the net in the return leg as Basel advanced after beating Tottenham 4-1 on penalties following a 2-2 aggregate draw.

However, he was not equally impressive in the semi-final against Chelsea, who claimed a 2-1 victory at Basel in the first leg.

"The lightning-quick Egyptian impressed over both legs of their Europa League quarter final and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is contemplating a move this summer," the Daily Mail said but did not cite its source.

It also said Basel are valuing Salah, who joined from Egyptian side Arab Contractors last summer, at £10million.

The Egyptian international has been one of Basel's key players this term. He scored five Swiss league goals as the team are on course to retain their title.
