Local councils to be dissolved

Prime Minister Essam Sharaf is expected to dissolve all local councils and set a date for new local elections in the coming few days

Prime Minister Essam Sharaf is expected to announce the dissolving of all local councils within days, a source told Ahram Online.

Sharaf is also expected to announce a date for elections for new councils.

The last elections for local councils took place in April 2008 where widespread rigging by the National Democratic Party was reported.
