At least 17 Egyptian army conscripts were killed on Sunday morning after their bus crashed into a truck on Al-Alameen road in Egypt's Beheira.
Another 24 were injured and were sent to a hospital in Wadi Al-Natroun.
Mohamed El-Meneesi undersecrtary of the ministry of health in Beheira told the state-owned news agency MENA, that the armed forces have sent helicopters to transfer the injured to hospitals.
A 2011 report issued by Egypt's Central Authority for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) found that road and rail accidents claimed the lives of over 7,000 Egyptians in 2010.
