Nottingham Forest will not pursue their interest in signing Ahly’s youngster Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” after failing to meet the Egyptian club’s asking price, according to an English report.
Nottingham Post said on Saturday that “no club have come close to matching Ahly’s asking price for the midfielder”.
The 19-year-old said last week that he was awaiting a loan offer from the English Championship (second-division) club.
“I hope it will be finalized through the legal channels in a way that fits me and the club,” he said on Ahly’s official website.
Trezeguet burst onto the scene with some fine displays in the heart of Ahly’s midfield last season, helping the club win the African Champions League as well as the African Super Cup.
He was also an instrumental member of the Egypt U-20 side that won the African Championship earlier this year and took part in the World Cup in Turkey last month.
He scored a superb solo goal in Egypt’s 2-0 victory over England in their last World Cup group-stage game.
