The US Congress will begin to debate a possible military strike against Syria during the week beginning September 9, the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives said Saturday.
"We are glad the president is seeking authorization for any military action in Syria," House Speaker John Boehner and other senior lawmakers said, in a statement issued shortly after President Barack Obama said he would be seeking their authorization.
