Four players – Mahmoud Alaa, Ahmed Tawfik, Mohamed Abdel-Fattah 'Taha' and Ahmed Samir – were called to the Pharaohs camp ahead of World Cup qualifiers.

Under American manager Bob Bradley's leadership, the Egyptian national team's technical staff summoned the quartet from their original clubs: Haras Al-Hodoud, Zamalek, Wadi Degla and Al-Dakhleya, respectively.

Egypt will play Ghana away mid-October, one month before the second leg in Cairo.

The referee crew will be led by 41-year-old Bouchaib Al-Ahrach from Morocco – assisted by Yussif Mabrouk and Mohamed El-Ahmady – who refereed the CAF Champions League final last year, in which Ahly won 2-1.

Uganda has agreed to play a friendly against Egypt on Monday, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said.

"The technical staff will discuss if the game would be useful or not as only 14 players are left in the camp after the temporary departure of the Ahly players," Egypt assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed told Ahram Sport early Sunday.

Eleven Ahly players left Egypt camp ahead of anticipated CAF Champions League semis against Cameroon's Cotton Sports Saturday.

Egypt, the winners of seven Africa Cup of Nations, are competing for their first qualification ticket to the most prestigious football tournament since 1990.
