Juventus' Ghanaian winger Kwadwo Asamoah said on Tuesday that the Black Stars should put their inferior record to Egypt behind them, saying it would count for nothing when both sides clash next week.

Ghana will host Egypt on Tuesday in the first leg of World Cup playoffs in Kumasi.

Egypt had the upper hand in their past 18 games against Ghana, winning eight, drawing five and losing five.

"The future is now. The past is gone and so we must look forward to the upcoming game," Asamoah was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet on Tuesday.

"We should not over-stretch the quality of the Egyptian team. Of course they have good players but we also have equally fine players.

"We must focus on our current team and work towards achieving our target of reaching Brazil 2014.

"We must give off over 100% and I’m confident we shall survive their threat," he added.
