Despite Tuesday’s 6-1 win over the Pharaohs, Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew believes his country must not be complacent if they want to secure a place at the World Cup in 2014.
Ghana claimed their biggest ever victory against Egypt on Tuesday, leaving the north Africans with a mountain to climb in the second leg scheduled for 19 November in Cairo.
"We have everything in our hands now. We have a foot in Brazil and all we have to do is to get a victory in Egypt as well to seal it," Ayew told the Confederation of African Football (CAF) official website after the match.
"Today the fans came out to support us and with this kind of support it is always difficult not to give everything. We wanted to give something back to them for everything," the 23-year-old added.
The Black Stars are on course for a third consecutive World Cup berth, but they still have work to do to fulfil that dream according to the Olympique de Marseille player.
"We still need to work hard and complete this dream. Egypt are a decent side and we cannot be complacent. We are only a game away from Brazil and it is important to keep the focus," concluded Ayew.
