Pro-Mubarak group clash with supporters of 25 January in Abdeen

Pro-Mubarak supporters traded insults with supporters of the 25 January Revolution in front of Abdeen Court today

Verbal insults were exchanged earlier today in front of Abdeen Court in downtown Cairo between 100 pro-Mubarak supporters and families who support the 25 January Revolution.

Police officers in Abdeen stopped the two groups from physically clashing.

The pro-Mubarak group had gathered in front of the court awaiting a ruling on a case filed to remove Mubarak’s name from Egypt’s public buildings and streets. Pro-Mubarak protesters held large photos of the former president and chanted “The Egyptian people want to honour the president.”

In turn, supporters of the revolution began chanting “theif” and made claims that his supporters were paid to hold the demonstration.

Pro-Mubarak supporters denied that they were paid to protest and insisted that they had arranged today’s demonstration in the "We are sorry Mr President,” Facebook group that was set up by Mubarak supporters a few weeks ago.
