Jose Mourinho has revealed that Samuel Eto'o is one of his favorite players because he is a matchwinner.
The 32-year-old striker helped the Blues to virtually guarantee their place in the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League after leading them to an easy 3-0 home win over Schalke in the group stage on Wednesday.
"My favourite players are the players that win matches for me, not the ones that lose matches for me," Mourinho was quoted as saying on Chelsea's official website on Thursday.
"Samuel worked with me in the best season of my career when we won everything [at Inter], so he is in a good position," he added.
The Cameroon superstar joined the Premier League giants on a one-year contract last summer from Russian side Anzhi and he played his finest game for the Blues on Wednesday, scoring twice in the 3-0 win over Schalke in the 4th match of the Champions League group stage.
"He was for two years at Anzhi playing without big motivation and you lose condition, sharpness and even appetite," the coach said.
"It was not a surprise for me that he arrived here not in the best condition. Now step by step he is coming. He is 32 but he is a naturally fit, slim guy and goals give confidence.
"The second goal is a very good collective goal. Willian's choice of pass was fantastic, Ramires's run to give an extra option to Willian was fantastic and Samuel's movement was brilliant," the coach concluded.
