Zamalek have signed Egypt international left-back Ahmed Samir Farag, the Cairo club's official website said.
Board member Ayman Younes announced that Farag, who has been a free agent since rescinding his contract with Lierse by mutual consent in the winter break, has joined the club on a two-and-a-half year deal.
Zamalek reportedly faced fierce competition from rivals Ismaily to sign the 27-year-old, who eventually opted to join the Cairo giants.
Farag is now expected to increase the options of manager Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' on the left flank alongside Egypt full-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafy.
Farag, a product of Ahly's youth setup, had two adventures abroad – joining Ligue 1 side Sochaux ten years ago before switching to Belgium's Lierse in 2012
