Egyptian presidential candidate Mohamed ElBaradei has characterised the scene in Tahrir Square after the army clashed with demonstrators early Saturday as “heartbreaking,” adding that he believes that trust between the army and the people is “vital to national unity”.
ElBaradei said that dialogue was necessary to reestablish trust and that the only road to stability was to quickly respond to the legitimate demands of the people, share power with civilians during the transitional period, and to support national dialogue.
