Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah recently received good news that two of his key players, Michael Essien and Abdul-Majeed Waris, have recovered from injuries with ample time to prepare for the World Cup.
Experienced midfielder Michael Essien recovered from a thigh injury that sidelined him since the beginning of April to get some action with AC Milan on Friday night.
The 31-year old tireless player came off the bench in the 58th minute to replace compatriot Sulley Muntari but that didn’t help as the Rossonneri slipped to a 2-0 defeat to AS Roma.
In France, The Black Stars’ rising striker Abdul-Maeed Waris has been named to the Valenciennes squad that will take on Guingamp on Saturday.
The 22-year old striker – who scored nine times this season – has resumed training as of last Tuesday following a shoulder injury earlier this month.
Valenciennes hope he will give them a huge boost in their relegation battle as they are 19th of the 20-team table.
