Egypt's Mohamed Elneny doubtful for Morocco clash: Reports

Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny could be doubtful to start against Morocco in Sunday's quarterfinal game in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Local media reported that the 24-year-old Arsenal player sustained a minor injury during Sunday morning's training session and could be sidelined.

The record-holders, with seven trophies, are bidding for their first cup since 2010 as they play the North African team at 9pm Cairo time (GMT +2).

The Pharaohs qualified for the last eight after securing a goalless draw against Mali in the opener and winning 1-0 against both Uganda and Ghana.

Elneny, who played the full 90 minutes in Egypt's three games but failed to make his presence felt by fans, has been defended by Argentinean manager Hector Cuper.

He made a stunning progress as a footballer, having moved to English Premier League side Arsenal in January last year after proving his worth with Swiss side Basel, whom he joined from Egypt's Arab Contractors three years earlier.
