Cote d'Ivoire coach Dussuyer resigns after Nations Cup flop

Cote d'Ivoire coach Michel Dussuyer has resigned from his post following the team's elimination at the group phase of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, the Ivorian FA announced on Sunday.

"Michel Dussuyer quit his post as the Elephants coach," read a statement on the official website of the Cote d'Ivoire Football Federation.

A 1-0 defeat by Morocco on Tuesday ended the holders' adventure in the Nations Cup following a goalless draw with Togo and another 2-2 draw with DR Congo.

They finished third in the group behind DR Congo and Morocco, who both reached the tournament's quarter-finals.

The statement has praised the "professionalism and humility '' of Frenchman Dussuyer, who spent 18 months in charge of Cote d'Ivoire.

Dussuyer was named as the Elephants coach in July 2015, helping them top their group in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with four points from two games.
