Egypt will face North African rivals Tunisia in their qualifying campaign for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after the draw paired them together in Group J on Thursday.

The Pharaohs were also drawn with Tunisia in the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers, with the Carthage Eagles beating the record seven-time winners home and away to pip them to a place at the Equatorial Guinea finals.

Both sides will also face minnows Niger and Swaziland in the same group.

The draw for the 2019 qualifiers took place in Gabon capital Libreville, two days before the country hosts the 2017 Nations Cup.

The winners of each group will join hosts Cameroon in the tournament finals along with the best three runners-up.

Egypt reached the Gabon edition for the first time since winning the last of their record titles in 2010. They open their campaign against Mali on Tuesday before facing Uganda and Ghana in Group D.

Tunisia will play in a tough Group B that also includes two tournament favourites in Algeria and Senegal as well as outsiders Zimbabwe.
