Tanzania have parted ways with national team coach Emmanuel Amuneke following the Taifa Stars' poor results in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, the Tanzania Football Federation announced on Monday.
"The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the national team coach, Emmanuel Amunike, have reached a joint agreement to terminate the contract between us,'' read a statement on the Federation's official website.
Debutant Tanzania, who enjoyed their first appearance in the continental competition, were eliminated from the group stage after finishing at the bottom of Group C without any points.
They started their mission with an expected 2-0 loss to Senegal before suffering a 3-2 loss against Kenya, and they ended their adventure in the Nations Cup with a heavy 3-0 defeat to Algeria.
Former Nigeria star Amuneke was appointed as Tanzania coach on August 2018, helping the team book a historical ticket to the Nations Cup.
The Tanzania Football Federation revealed that Amuneke's successor will be revealed on the 11th of this month.
