After they were drawn to familiar faces at next year's 2017 African Cup of Nations finals in Gabon, Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie insisted the Black Stars are in the toughest group.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D with their World Cup qualifying opponents Egypt, Uganda, as well as Mali.

"I think that our group is the toughest," Afriyie was quoted as saying on the CAF official website after the draw.

Ghana was held to a surprise goalless draw with Uganda in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers while Egypt kicked off their Group E campaign with a 2-1 win over Congo. Egypt faces Ghana in a vital qualifier at home next month.

"It will be a repeat of the World Cup qualifiers. I always trust my boys and the results of the draw will bring the best out of them." Afriyie said.

Meanwhile, Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu commented on the AFCON 2017 draw.

"It is a very interesting group. We will really get to know each other before the AFCON, so it will be a cracker," Agyemang-Badu said.

The tournament will be played from January 14 to February 5 in Libreville, Franceville, Oyem and Port Gentil.
