Egypt’s national football team will fly to Gabon on Friday to take part in the 2017 African Cup of Nations, which will be played from 14 January to 5 February.

The pharaohs are due to take on Ghana, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the tournament.

Egypt will kick off their trek in the continental tournament against Mali on 17 January under the helm of Argentinean coach Hector Cuper.

Egypt have called up 23 players per CAF-mandated maximum to take part in the tournament, including veteran keeper Essam El-Hadary (Wadi Degla), Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal, England), Mohamed Salah (AS Roma, Italy), Ahmed 'Kouka' Hassan (Braga, Portugal) and Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan (Mouscron, Belgium).

After missing the past three editions, record holders of seven Nations Cup titles Egypt are eager to regain their glory during the tournament.
