Senegal defender Karab Mbodj believes Cameroon are favorites to win Saturday's quarter-final clash at the African Cup of Nations that pits them against each other.
"Our quarter final game will not be an easy ride. We have never won the African Cup, Cameroon did," said Mbodj, who captained Senegal in their 2-2 draw against Algeria on Monday.
The Teranga Lions topped Group B with seven points from three games, producing a near-flawless performance that makes them favourites to win the title in Gabon.
"They [Cameroon] have shown good things since the start of the tournament. We are humble and we tag them favorites. Now at Day D we will do everything to win the game," Mbodji added.
Four-time African champions Cameroon reached the quarter finals after finishing second in Group B behind leaders Burkina Faso, who also have five points but finished on top virtue of a better goal difference.
Several key players declined a Cameroon call-up for the Nations Cup but coach Hugo Broos proved adept in making up for that and his players repaid his faith with some convincing displays.
Broos hailed Cameroon's players for their "mentality and hunger" as his side advanced to the last eight.
Mbodj said that Senegal showed some weaknesses that they can't afford to show again against Cameroon.
"I did not like conceding goals (against Algeria). We have some mistakes and we must correct them," he concluded.
