Morocco coach Herve Renard said that Egypt proved they are back to their best after they snatched a last-gasp 1-0 victory to qualify for the African Nations Cup semi-final on Sunday.
A late winner by substitute Mahmoud Kahraba two minutes from time led Egypt to their first win over Morocco since 1986, with the defeat hard to swallow for the Atlas Lions after they spurned several goal-scoring chances in an exciting second half.
Egypt missed the past three editions of the tournament despite being the record winners with seven titles under their belt, the last of which was in 2010.
"Egypt's rivals should be careful, because Egypt is back," Renard told beIN Sports after the game.
"It was very difficult to perform in this poor pitch but Egypt dealt with it very well and played a good game.
"They have a good coach and they snatched a winner after a defensive error," added the Frenchman, who led Zambia and Ivory Coast to Nations Cup triumphs in 2012 and 2015 respectively.
Renard said he is proud by the efforts exerted by Morocco in the Nations Cup.
"We played a good game and we did our best against a tough opponent. I'm proud despite the loss," he said.
Egypt will face Burkina Faso in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
