Egypt national football team assistant coach Hany Ramzy has promised that technical staff will do their best during ongoing training sessions to avoid the mistakes the team made in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Zimbabwe on Friday.

Pharaohs winger Mahmoud Trezeguet netted in the first half to give an otherwise disappointing 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe at Cairo International Stadium.

"The starts are always difficult and that affected the team, but we don’t agree with any excuses as we will resolve the mistakes and we will be better," Ramzy told a television programme on Sunday.

Egypt's defender Ahmed Hegazi broke his nose in Friday's AFCON opener.

"Hegazi's situation for the coming game against DR Congo is to be decided Monday as we will follow the development of his injury as well his availability for the game," Ramzy said.

"Hegazy will probably be available for DR Congo clash and he will play the game with a protective nose guard,” he added.

The Pharaohs, who are second in Group A of the 2019 AFCON, will face DR Congo on Wednesday, before meeting the group's leaders Uganda in their last Group A match on 30 June.
