The Pharaohs suffered their first defeat under Vitoria's guidance, losing 3-1 to Tunisia in a friendly match in September.

This loss ended a streak of eight consecutive victories since Vitoria took charge in July 2022.

The friendly against Zambia, followed by another match against Algeria, also taking place in Abu Dhabi, is part of the Egyptian national team's preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers set to begin in November, as well as the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

"The game against Zambia will be tough, especially considering the quality of their team," Vitoria told  the pre-match news conference on Wednesday.

"Our objective is to win all of our games, although it may not always be achievable. It is normal to experience losses at times."

In Abu Dhabi, Vitoria will have the luxury of having all his key players available for the two friendlies, unlike the previous September camp which saw the absence of Ahly players, as well as Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan and Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny due to injuries.

The Portuguese coach has called up a list of 25 players, including Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, Trabzonspor winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan, and in-form Nantes FC striker Mostafa Mohamed.

"I cannot define my squad for the Zambia game yet as I am still making my choices," added the Portuguese manager.

"All available players have a chance to play in the two matches."

Thursday's game will mark the 24th meeting between the two sides, with Egypt boasting 13 wins, five draws, and six losses in their previous encounters.
