Egypt's Salah leads the way: 2023 AFCON provisional squads unveiled by CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the provisional squads for the 2023 African Nations Cup, with each team submitting a list of 55 players that will eventually be trimmed down to 27 for the final roster.

Egypt's national team, coached by Rui Vitoria, have included notable players such as Mahmoud Hamdi "El-Wensh" and Abdallah El-Said in their provisional squad. Vitoria has also introduced fresh faces to the mix, injecting new talent into the Pharaohs' lineup.

The 2023 African Nations Cup is set to commence in Ivory Coast from 13 January to 11 February 2024. Egypt is placed in Group B alongside Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique. The Pharaohs will embark on their campaign against Mozambique on 14 January, followed by clashes against Ghana on 18 January and Cape Verde on 22 January to conclude their group stage fixtures.

The comprehensive list for the provisional squads features a mix of experienced players and emerging talents.
