We are capable of winning this tournament: Osimhen

Napoli‘s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen believes his side has the needed quality to win the Africa Cup of Nations that will start on 13 January in Cote d’Ivoire.

The African player of the year added that the Super Eagles want to win the Nations Cup to erase the deception of the World Cup when they failed to reach the World competition after losing to Ghana in the play-offs.

“We are capable of winning this tournament because the squad is packed with players who are performing exceptionally well for their European clubs.” Osimhen was quoted as saying by Ghanian website Modern Ghana.

“All of us are desperate to make up for failing to reach the World Cup 2022. The only way we can achieve the goal is by winning the Cup of Nations.”

Nigeria who won the Nations Cup three times, feature in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
