Khenissi sustained the injury during Tunisia's opening match against Namibia in Group E. After just 15 minutes on the pitch, he was forced off the field.
"Following the injury sustained in the match against Namibia, Taha Yassine Khenissi underwent an MRI examination on Wednesday morning," the TFF stated in an official announcement. "The results confirmed an injury to the inner knee ligament, which will prevent him from continuing his participation in the AFCON," it added.
Khenissi's recovery is expected to take up to a month and a half, dealing a significant blow to the Tunisian team's chances in the tournament.
His absence was particularly evident in the match against Namibia, where the underdogs secured a historic 1-0 victory. Deon Hotto's 88th-minute goal marked Namibia's first-ever win in the AFCON.
With Khenissi sidelined, there are speculations that he may need to leave the team's camp in Ivory Coast.
