The outcome of the match means the Mambas will have to await the final group game before knowing their fate in advancing from the group or not.
Mozambique struggled to find effective solutions against the relentless and well-executed attacks from the unstoppable Blue Sharks.
“They fully deserve their victory. They caused us a lot of problems. They are fast, very technical players who project themselves forward very quickly. For our part, we lacked energy,” Mozambique coach Chiquinho Condé said.
With just one point from two games, Mozambique now faces a must-win situation in their upcoming match against Ghana.
“This is going to be our first final. We are up against the wall, we no longer have a choice. We will have to go for this victory and it will not be easy because the Ghanaians will want the same thing as us.” Condé added.
Mozambique will face Ghana on Monday, while group Leader Cape Verde will take on Egypt on the same day.
