The win secured the Teranga Lions' top spot in Group B and a place in the round of 16, but Cisse warned against complacency.

“I congratulate the players because they played a great match. They respected my instructions and all the advice that I gave them,” said Cisse.

The Teranga Lions head into their final group game against Guinea with maximum points after two wins, but Cisse is already looking ahead to the knockout stages.

“There is the last match against Guinea in the round. We must remain focused. We have played two matches in the competition so far, and there are 5 remaining to reach the stated goal,” he added.

Cisse will be keen for his team to avoid a repeat of their performance at the 2019 AFCON, when they topped their group before crashing out in the round of 16.

The victory over Cameroon was a statement of intent, but Cisse knows the real test is yet to come. He demanded full concentration from his players as they aim to turn their group-stage dominance into continental glory.
