Despite the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to Cote d'Ivoire on Wednesday, Desabre stressed that the Leopards are focused on securing a bronze medal against Bafana Bafana at Abidjan's Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium, aiming to leave a positive mark on the competition.

"We need to finish on a positive note," Desabre declared at the pre-match press conference. " We have come a long way; we have shown good things and we do not want a grain of sand to derail the machine. We will give everything to bring this medal home and present it to the Congolese people who are passionate about football," he said.

While acknowledging room for improvement, the French tactician expressed confidence in the team's future. " “We still have room for improvement to make,” he admitted. “The results will be positive and we will do everything in place to improve this national team for the years to come."

Before bidding farewell to the AFCON, Desabre expressed his gratitude to the Congolese fans for their unwavering support.

“The Congolese were great with us. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for everything,” he concluded.
