Egypt forward Mohamed Salah scored the Pharaohs’ third goal in a 3-2 win over Ivory Coast on Saturday to take his Africa Cup of Nations tally to 11, equalling the record of his coach Hossam Hassan.
The 33-year-old began the tournament with seven goals from 19 AFCON matches and has since scored against Zimbabwe, South Africa, Benin and Ivory Coast.
Salah has found the net in every appearance at the tournament, missing only the goalless draw against Angola after coach Hassan opted to rest his regular starters.
The Liverpool forward is now one goal short of matching Egypt’s all-time AFCON scoring record, held by Hassan El Shazly with 12 goals.
