Mohamed Salah praised his teammates’ spirit after Egypt’s 3-2 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday and urged the team to keep pushing in the tournament.

The 33-year-old Liverpool winger was named man of the match after scoring once and providing an assist as the Pharaohs booked their place in the semi-finals.

“It was a tough opponent and we fought well to secure the victory,” Salah told beIN Sports after the match.

"All the players deserve this win because of their spirit and the way they fought until the end," he added.

"Egypt have a lot of talented players in the squad and we always play to win. We have top players competing in Europe and in the Egyptian league," Salah told a post-match news conference.

"This is the best squad I have played in during my career, and I hope we can cap it by winning the Africa Cup of Nations," he added.

Egypt will face Senegal in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

"The match against Senegal will be difficult. They have many players based in Europe, but we will do our best to deliver a strong performance," Salah said.

“We have to carry on and see what happens in the next games,” Salah said.

Salah took his Africa Cup of Nations tally to 11 goals, equalling the record of Egypt coach Hossam Hassan.

He began the tournament with seven goals from 19 AFCON matches and has since scored against Zimbabwe, South Africa, Benin and Côte d’Ivoire.
