Egypt meet Senegal on Wednesday for a place in the final, with Trezeguet expressing confidence in his side’s pedigree and readiness for the challenge.
Speaking at the pre-match news conference, the winger acknowledged Senegal’s quality but underlined Egypt’s status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
“Senegal are a big team, but everyone knows who the Egypt national team are,” Trezeguet said.
“We are the most successful team to have won the title.”
Trezeguet said the technical staff had worked intensively with the squad in recent weeks to prepare for the encounter and that the players were determined to deliver a performance worthy of Egyptian supporters.
He played down talk of revenge following previous defeats to Senegal on penalties, saying the current squad had a different mentality and motivation.
“There is no revenge in football,” he said.
“Our history in this competition speaks for itself. Since the start of the tournament, our objective has been to win the title, regardless of the opponent. Every match is a final.”
Trezeguet also heaped praise on his teammate Mohamed Salah, calling him the best player in the world and highlighting his work rate and determination to lift the trophy.
Egypt booked their place in the semi-finals with a win over Ivory Coast, while Senegal advanced after defeating Mali.
