Ahly, drawn in Group A alongside Palmeiras (Brazil), FC Porto (Portugal), and Inter Miami (USA), will open their campaign against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the tournament’s first match on Sunday 15 June.
Newly appointed head coach Jose Riveiro has named a 27-man squad for the competition, featuring several summer signings and returning players.
The squad includes Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan, and former Arab Contractors goalkeeper Mohamed Ahmed.
Also joining the squad is Al-Wakra midfielder Hamdi Fathi, who will feature for the Red Devils during the tournament only.
Malian international Aliou Dieng returns after a loan spell with Saudi side Al-Kholood, following a request from Riveiro.
Ceramica Cleopatra defender Ahmed Ramadan has also been included, rejoining his boyhood club on a season-long loan.
Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali will link up with the team in the U.S. after completing international duty.
Zamalek winger Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed, reportedly close to finalizing a move to Ahly, is expected to become the squad’s 28th player.
He is set to join the team in the US after the Egypt Cup final between Zamalek and Pyramids FC on Thursday.
Midfielders Omar El-Saei and Karim Walid, along with full-back Karim Fouad, were left out of the squad.
Ahly are scheduled to play a warm-up friendly against Mexico’s Pachuca on Monday, 9 June, as both teams prepare for the global competition.
