Alba also stressed his team's desire to make their mark in the first-ever appearance in the prestigious tournament.
Ahly will open their campaign at FIFA's newly expanded 32-team tournament against the US outfit Inter Miami in Miami on Sunday.
According to the 36-year-old Alba, fans’ attendance will play a key role against the Egyptians.
“All of the group-stage matches are going to be special. We start our campaign with a tough match, but we’re lucky enough to be playing here at home, and we hope that people come on down, get behind us and enjoy the match,” the veteran Spanish player said in an interview with FIFA’s official website on Tuesday.
Inter Miami have been drawn in Group A alongside Palmeiras (Brazil), FC Porto (Portugal), and Ahly (Egypt).
Playing at the World Cup alongside Lionel Messi, his former teammate at Barcelona, Alba hopes Inter Miami will deliver outstanding performances in the prestigious competition.
“We want to be competitive and to make our mark, because it’s the first time that we’ve had the opportunity to play on the global stage. We have high hopes as a team and for the club as a whole, and we’re keen to make the fans proud,” he concluded.
Inter Miami will face Porto in the next group stage game on 19 June, before facing Palmeiras in the final game five days later.
