The 27-year-old Ashour saw two early efforts saved before being forced off and replaced with teammate Ahmed Zizo in the 14th minute after sustaining a serious shoulder injury.
According to Ahly’s official website, scans revealed that the player is suffering from a broken Clavicle bone and will not be available for the team’s next games at the World Cup in the USA.
Egyptian media reports suggested that the former Zamalek player is set to undergo surgery later on Sunday.
The result leaves both sides, including Brazil’s Palmeiras and Portugal’s FC Porto, with one point in Group A.
Ahly will face Palmeiras next in what could already be a decisive match for the group standings.
