The Tunisian giants open their campaign with a tough Group D clash against Brazilian champions Flamengo on Tuesday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
“There is no specific objective set for our participation,” Kanzari told reporters on Monday.
“Time has not been on our side, whether in terms of preparation or recruitment.”
The seven-time Tunisian champions, who have dominated the domestic league in recent years, made no new signings ahead of the tournament and will rely on the squad that secured qualification.
“These are the players who got us here — they deserve to be rewarded,” Kanzari added.
Esperance qualified for the tournament through their continental ranking and were drawn in Group D alongside English Premier League side Chelsea and Major League Soccer champions Los Angeles FC.
