The UAE club were already beaten 5-0 by Italy’s Juventus in their Group Stage opener and have been eliminated from the tournament with one match remaining.
“We knew we were up against a strong team, but our boys lost focus during the match, and it cost us dearly,” the Serbian coach told reporters after the game.
“But this has been a very valuable experience. We need to learn from teams like these—how they approach matches with the right mentality to win.”
Al-Ain will close out their Group Stage on Thursday against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, who have also been eliminated after two straight losses.
