Egypt's foreign ministry denied on Sunday news reports that Jordan withdrew a draft resolution Amman submitted on Wednesday to the Security Council which proposes a lifting of a four-year arms embargo on the Libya.
Egypt has publicly called on the UN to lift the embargo on Libya after Islamic State (IS) group militants recently beheaded 20 Coptic Egyptians on a Tripoli beach.
On Monday, Egypt launched airstrikes on IS group targets in Libya's Derna, in coordination with the Libyan army.
The Security Council is set to hold further discussions on the draft resolution Monday, Egypt's foreign affairs ministry press communiqué read.
Members of the Security Council have been revising the wording of a possible resolution, the communiqué added.
The United States and United Kingdom have rejected military intervention in Libya calling for a political solution.
Both the UK and the US hold veto power in the Security Council.
In February 2011, the UN imposed the embargo against Libya citing “violent repression of civilian demonstrators” by former president Muammar Gaddafi.
Since then, power plays have shifted in Libya but conflict remains a constant.
Islamist-led rebels have been battling General Haftar's forces across the country for months.
