Egyptair flights will not be affected by the ash cloud from a volcano in Iceland, said the head of the company.
According to Ayman Nasr, the chairman and CEO of Egyptair, flights to Europe will continue as scheduled and no decision was made to cancel any of them.
In a statement released today, Nasr also assured travellers that Egyptair’s operations centre is closely following the movement of the ash, in coordination with the European air navigation control centre.
An official source said that it is not yet clear if the volcano, which has caused a cloud of smoke 17 km high, will disrupt flights as happened in 2010.
