Egyptian General Prosecutor Hisham Barakat ordered Wednesday the referral of Yasmine El-Narsh to criminal court on charges of "assaulting a police officer at Cairo Airport."
A video uploaded 3 May on social media showing El-Narsh in Cairo International Airport assaulting a police officer sparked wide criticism nationwide.
El-Narsh will remain in prison pending trial, according to Barakat.
Following investigations, the general prosecution issued a statement highlighting that the defendant "used force and violence and threatened the policeman."
The statement added that El-Narsh "removed her garments, showing parts of her body; which are shameful acts in the airport lounge."
El-Narsh is also charged her with "possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, forcibly resisting a police officer and insulting airport staff."
The incident took place 28 April when El-Narsh arrived late for a plane to Hurghada.
The video showed the defendant yelling at the police officer while saying that she had to get on the plane after waiting for three hours.
The defendant was arrested shortly after the incident, following a search of her personal belongings where hashish was discovered, according to police.
