Suez officers accused of killing protesters during the 18 day uprising that began on 25 January will be released on bail after court rejects an appeal

Suez’s criminal court has rejected the appeal filed on Wednesday against releasing police officers accused of killing demonstrators during Egypt’s 25 January revolution.

The court’s decision on Monday to bail out the officers has angered many, especially the families of the martyrs, who have responded with an open-ended sit-in in Egypt's portal city.

Following the court's decision on Wednesday to refuse the appeal, the families of martyrs and the injured in Suez attacked the police headquarters.

The prosecution has also ordered on Wednesday the arrest of the Suez head of security for allegedly attempting to assist the accused officers in escaping.
