Clashes between angry citizens and police are still ongoing in Suez after the court rejected an appeal against a decision to release police officers accused of killing protestors during the 25 January revolution.

The police headquarters attacked by the angered citizens saw all of its windows smashed, with rocks being thrown back and forth between citizens and security forces, as the army chose not to intervene in an attempt to remain neutral.

In the El Arbaeen district of Suez, family members of the revolution's martyrs have been staging a sit-in protesting the court’s decision to release on bail officers accused of killing protestors.

Suez’s attorney general had ordered late Tuesday a court session on Wednesday to appeal the release of the police officers. The court’s rejection of the appeal has angered many, triggering the clashes.
