A Russian passenger plane carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members crashed on Saturday

The Egyptian rescue team found the crashed Russian plane's black box, a security source told Reuters.

A Russian passenger plane carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members crashed on Saturday morning in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula due to a technical failure, according to Egyptian authorities.

The exact reason for the crash had not yet been determined. An official death toll has yet to be announced. 

Reuters quoted an officer on the scene saying that the plane was found split into two with at least 100 bodies already extracted while the rest are still inside.
