Six more bodies were found this morning under the rubble of the Alexandria clothes factory that collapsed last Sunday. The bodies were discovered as workers were finishing their rescue efforts at the site.
This raises the death toll to 26, with ten people injured, including one rescue worker.
Yesterday, clashes erupted between police and families of the victims who were refused entry to the site, to check on their injured relatives or identify the bodies of those killed.
The collapse of the factory was blamed on the rain storm that hit Alexandria on Sunday. However, building collapses are relatively frequent in Egypt, where construction guidelines are ignored and extra floors are often added without planning permits.
